The Bern Foundation for Photography, Film, and Video FFV

In 1979, the executive board of the Bernische Kunstgesellschaft (Bern Art Society) celebrated the centenary of the Museum of Fine Arts Bern by establishing a foundation focusing on the (new) media of photography, film, and video. The foundation was set up in 1981. Its first president was Bernese photographer Kurt Blum. In 1982 the foundation was able to purchase documentary-image photographer Paul Senn’s (1901 - 1953) archive, which underwent conservation from 2004 through to 2007 while the photographer’s legacy was researched and processed. The foundation owns photography of Bernese, Swiss, and international photographers and artists as well as an artists' short film archive. Since 1982 the foundation has been adding to its now world-famous video collection.
